I have 3 cats, one that has tummy issues, so his poop SMELLS! I was emptying my old container every other day. This holds 5 days worth (sometimes 6). I have not had any issues with odor escaping. When you first scoop the box and open the trap door to let the used litter fall into the bag, I suppose some odor could escape then, but really, you've just stirred up the litter, so how can you tell if the odor is from what you just scooped or the storage receptacle? Point is, the room where my litter boxes are doesn't smell unless a cat just made a deposit. NOTE I followed the advice of a previous post - I don't tie knots in the bad. I use little zip ties. They are way more secure and you aren't wasting litter bag material. Just put 2 zip ties about an inch apart and cut between. You can get the zip ties at the hardware store for about $1.75 / 100. The only bad point about this product that I've found is that the little button that hold the top and bottom portions of the hinged receptacle closed is too weak to allow you to lift the unit using the hand hold in the back. Always support the bottom when you lift the container, especially it gets full.

My cat eats healthy, but man his poop stink (this a review, not a medical debate). I was skeptical because my mother has the diaper genie was I was a baby and said its not that great. Well, this was a great price, so I decided to try it. (I git the black for $15, pretty) The little box is in my bathroom which is right next to the door entering into the garage. I keep the litter Genie right outside that door. The refills are very expensive so what I actually do is use those Publix fruit and vegetable bags on top of the refills for extra odor eliminating and I don't have to cut the litter Genie bag every single time I want to store out just the publix bag. I do cut the little genie bag refills every two or three times though because the bag itself can smell eventually.Only thing I wish is that the opening is a bit bigger so I can pull the bag of poop through the top. I change the little bag twice a week.I add those publix fruit and vegetable bags on top of the refills and it saves you with the refills and you won't have to cut the litter genie bag refills as often so you will save money if you do this (the refills are $10 each where I am).

Love it! Don't have to get close to the poop at all! Love the improvement from Genies six years ago.

This is a lot flimsier than I expected, but for the price I didn't expect high-tech. BUT if they ever decided to make another , better quality version I would be there in a shot for at least twice the price.Pros: It TOTALLY contains the smell. I can't believe it. My cats will wake me up from a dead sleep sometimes with their stinkbombs, but nothing makes it out of this can. it saves my downstairs trash and the bags are a TON better than the plastic grocery bags I had been using. No smelly garbage :) It hold more than I expected-perfect size for one cat, but maybe not large enough for two. I fill up the bag in a few days easy with my boys. Incredible easy to put together, almost totally unnoticeable next to the litter box, and super simple mechanics-life lid, pull chute, dump. Changing the bag is a snap, too. Just open the top part of the body, pull out the bag enough to tie, cut, tie, done. easy peasy.Cons: It is flimsy, it is shorter/smaller than I hoped, the chute is spring loaded and when I hold it open I need to put my feet around it to keep it from toppling over. The top and bottom sections are joined by a plastic button that doesn't hold it together so it pops off a lot, and the chute opening is extremely small and the opening is constantly covered in litter/feces bits that need to be wiped down. This desperately needs an upgrade mechanically speaking.

So this actually comes with a scooper. Unless I missed it, it never said that anywhere. So I bought another scooper. I don't like how small the opening is. And I wish there was some kind of latch on the lid so my toddler wouldn't open it.

Love this litter genie! I have three kids so I have an idea how the diaper genie works. So I was a little bit skeptical about well this would work, but it works surprisingly well. Just a few Pros, Cons and TipsPros:- Easy to clean and replace the liner (more frequent cleaning)- Definitely reduces (but not eliminates) the odor- Can hold a lot of litter- Scoop holder keeps the litter inCons:- After dumping out the litter, the top does not fully latch (see photo). It used to but not anymore. So slight odor escapes through the crack.Tips:- Make sure to tie the bottom liner very strong. I had my kids do it once and it left a big mess when I went to pick it up.

As a new cat owner (I let a stray in on a cold winter night and she decided to keep us lol) I quickly realized how much I was going to HATE dealing with a litter box and cat waste. Keeping a wad of plastic grocery bags (that may or may not have holes in them) and then taking them down to the trash everyday just wasn't going to cut it. I was actually on the fence about keeping the cat until I did a few things to make owning her substantially easier. This product along with the great litter they sell here on Amazon plus a Cat Box/Washroom to hide the litter box has ensured Jinxy has a permanent home with us :)Now about this product - it came packaged well and was super easy to setup for first use. It includes the genie, a refill cartridge and a scoop. Just pull the seal off of the supplied refill cartride, insert into the unit, pull the film through the hole to the bottom of the genie and then tie a knot in the bottom of the film - latch it closed and it's ready to use.The usability of this product is spot on - it couldn't be easier to use! Just pop the lid, dump the waste in the funnel shaped hole, close the lid then pull the spring-tensioned sliding seal and the waste drops down into the bag. Let the seal go and you're done. Clean, no smell and it holds about a week's worth of waste for a medium sized cat.The only real issue I have with the product is that for something that sees daily use it is pretty flimsy... The plastic of the genie itself is very thin - it could stand to be at least twice as thick. I would easily pay twice as much for a heavier duty version. For the price though it's really hard to complain, especially for all the benefits it brings to the table.

This thing changed my life! I live in an apartment and this is such a gift to us because we dont have to fill the regular trash with stinky kitty waste. This cuts down on smell by so much and it is easy to use, refill, and empty. I HIGHLY recommend to apartment dwellers for cat or small dog waste. I'm even considering a second one for food waste (no garbage disposal). It would work great under the sink as a compost bin. The main con is that the refills are spendy, but I've had this unit for a month now and have two very regular cats, and I'm still on the first refill. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

I don't know how this product does it, but it really has eliminated the odor of our litter box completely. There is no discernible odor that comes from the pail, even when it is full. It makes scooping every single day, or even twice a day easy, rather than a chore. No longer do you have to find a plastic bag, scoop, and take the litter all the way outside. You simply scoop, dump the litter immediately next to the litter box, and you are done. The refills are relatively cheap, and changing the bag when it is full is very easy with the built-in cutter. If you are having trouble with a smelly litter box, and perhaps not scooping every day due to the hassle, I highly recommend picking up this product. It will change your life and you, your guests and your cat will be happier.I've attached a video showing how easy it is to scoop, dump, remove the bag, and tie the new bag!

I really like this product! I thought what do I need this for, I use my grocery bags and run it out the door. Well during those cold months and rainy days... this is super convenient when you don't want to go outside. It really does hold in the odor! If it also better then having the grocery bag sit open for 5 minutes letting the smell fill the room while I finish cleaning the boxes. Now for the cons... why I only give it 4 stars. The hole where you drop the "droppings" in, is too small. I have a medium size scooper and I seem to get litter falling everywhere even when I'm being careful. I have 4 adult cats so I am not scooping tiny kitten poops. So I have litter build up on the plastic that angles down. Second con and the main reason I give it 4 stars is the price of refills! Wtf?! Your charging what for plastic bag refills?! I bought this a couple weeks ago so I should have done my research on the refills... but I was blinded by the cheap price of the container itself. Now the bags are pretty heavy duty... they held up when I filled the container and ripped out the very heavy bag, but it's still a plastic bag.

This is amazing!! Since I'm a first time cat owner I had no idea how unpleasant the litter box situation would be. I could not find an easy, convenient way to dispose of her number 2. The best I could do was doggie bags but I had to bring them to the outdoor garbage bin immediately, which was undesirable. Then I thought, maybe I could just use something like a diaper genie. To my delight I found that there was the same type of system for cats! This does a great job at keeping the smell contained, I can't smell anything! When I first changed the bag out I thought it was going to be terrible and that I was going to get a nice dose of the smell I had been containing. Fortunately, the system is designed such that there is minimal/no time that you have to have the bag open, so you can't smell anything even during bag changes!! The only negative, which still isn't a problem, is that the 'button' in the middle doesn't actually keep the system latched together. Though, like I mentioned, this isn't a problem because the only time I move the system is during bag change and I just carry the system by the bottom to the dumpster. If you are having issues with a smelly litter box I 110% recommend this. I use this in conjunction with a Breeze Tidy cat litter box and pine pellets and my house NEVER smells like we own a cat.

This is an item I purchased for myself and I'm not sure why I put it off for so long! I have been looking to get one of these for quite awhile.I have two cats and I feel like I'm constantly scooping out the litter box and going out to the trash. Although I take the garbage out everyday the trashcan will stink from the tied off bag of dirty litter. This Litter Genie is great! It was super easy to put the refill "bags" in, its super easy to use and best of all it doesn't STINK! It's sturdy but not heavy to move around because it's made of plastic and it comes with the litter scoop and the pocket on the side of the can to hold it.I have issues with removing the litter "bag" from this Litter Genie.#1 The opening in the top where you place the dirty litter is to small. I am showing the top with a measuring tape. I also wanted to show a picture of the middle where it opens (pardon the dirty litter). This is from last night and this early A.M. I am also showing pictures of how to retie and create a new "bag".#2 It opens in the middle of the can and then I had to figure out how to the cut the "bag" without spilling any dirty litter. It feels like I have to pull the bag to far down to cut it and it uses more of the "bags" then I had hoped. I'm sure I'll figure that out to my satisfaction as I use it more. I hope this is helpful to you. All in all I highly recommend this Litter Genie.

I LOVE this. I didn't know I would love it so much. My friend has one for her two cats, and her house never smells! She let me in on the Litter Genie secret. It's so easy and really makes my life easier. In fact, if it broke, I would buy another one IMMEDIATELY. Seriously. This thing is awesome.

I contemplated ordering this wondering if it would actually be worth it and I have to say I love it! It is easy to set up and so easy to use. I find myself scooping the litter much more often because I don't have to go get grocery bags and scoop and then take it outside to the trash.I have 3 cats and 2 litter boxes and this does hold a lot. If you just have one cat you will empty it much less often. When it is time to empty it you use the cutter to cut the bag and remove the waste and then tie a knot and start again. It is easy and there is no smell because it is all contained in the lower section. I would definitely recommend this! I made a video to show how it works. Hope it helps! :)

This truly comes in handy!! I clean the cat box daily, yah, I have a bunch of crappers on my hands lol I have two adult cats and a kitten. The kitten made no difference as she's under 8weeks. I upgraded to 2 large boxes I purchased on Amazon (which is a life saver) and taking the poop bag out daily became a real drag. I did it for a year and God forbid if I didn't take it out or skipped a day of cleaning their box, I'd wake up to treats outside the box occasionally 😒. I have a huge male toyger so this is a great purchase BUT I have to take it out once a week. That's a huge difference for me, although it's much sooner than what the description says, it's still life saving in my situation. I bought the genie plus and I was at a loss once it arrived and I felt extremely slow in learning and had to read the directions a few times. It's fairly easy:Under the lid there is an added flap where you place the genie bag underneath. Stretch the bag out (make sure it's in the right direction) tie a knot at the end of the bag. The genie opens up half way and you can see how much bag space is needed in the lower half. It's kind of a tiny hassle to get the bag through because there is a stopper between the lid and lower half where it opens. This is so you never get the foul smell as it's always closed tightly. As an drop poop under the lid, close lid, pull the stopper out so poop falls to bottom, then put stopper back in place and VOILA, no smell! Anyway to get the bag to the lower half you have to keep that stopper open somewhat which is gross after a few uses so keep it clean weekly ( like wipe the rim under the lid). When taking out the poop there is a built in child safe blade where you can slide the bag through to cut it and tie a knot at the top and then ready to take it out. It might be a hassle to some but I enjoy mine and will attach a pic. There could be a few minor changes but it's miniscule to me compared to what I was dealing with prior to this.WARNING: Contains explicit photo of the mess my cats make in their potty area.UPDATE:Been using this for 1 month and 4 days and the refill bag that came with it is done! I used it about 5-6 times so I knocked off a star because they could've made the bags better. You have to tie a knot at both ends and that is wasted material so for that I will dock a star! That is how they make their money right? I clean 2 huge litter boxes every day and with my cats I have to take it out weekly or less depending. When my male Toyger goes, HE GOES..i'm talk'n grapefruit sized or even bigger! Him alone is enough so if you have a Bengal or an exotic cat then you will go through these quick! Until they update the bags I will return a star. Other than my cons, I still love it as it does take the smell away and the bags do go hand in hand. i will try a trash bag and update again with my thoughts on a regular trash bag vs the genie refills. The refill bags are not a hassle like I said in the beginning, you just have to get used to it.

This is an awesome product! I live in a small apartment and the smell of my cat's waste could get overwhelming. I couldn't take it out to the dump every time I cleaned the litter box, so it would just sit in my kitchen trash and stink up the whole apartment. So the litter genie was a lifesaver! It gets rid of the smell, is so easy to use, and it really does last 2 weeks for one cat (who poops a lot). I just got another cat, so I'm not sure how long one bag will last with two, but it's so easy to change the bag and everything, I'm not worried about it. Also, my cat loves to sit on top of it hahaha added bonus!

In order to get out of the using plastic grocery bags for scooped poo, I decided to try this. Here are my observations:The grey & black is actually a dark grey and shiny black and is attractive looking. It comes with it's own scoop. A little holder sits in slots located inside the rim of the genie. The scoop that comes with it is only slightly better than the dollar store brands. It's plastic with a hollow plastic handle. It sits perfectly inside the holder. It comes with one pack of "trash bags" and the directions are fairly simple on how to place inside the unit. You tie a knot in the bottom of the bag, then fill it up with the scooped poo. After the bag is full, you will cut the bag (cutter inside) and tie it off and dispose of it. You then tie a new bag and start over. The size is small compared to my litterbox-see pics. Great for small areas.I just had another scooper break and though this one came with it's own, I wanted something with some heft that wouldn't bend or break. So I purchased: Sifter with Deep Shovel - Designed by Cat Owners - Teflon Coated and Solid Aluminum. "Perfect Scooper" with Free Holder. Solid Core Handle. iPrimio Patent Pending. BLACK https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BFOHQEC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 from Amazon based on another review. That scooper will probably last forever. It's very sturdy, has a solid handle, is slightly longer, and the scoop part is coated with teflon so that things do not stick. My cat has some heavy, hefty pee clumps and this will do the trick. It came with a wall holder, but it fits inside the genie scoop holder (it is taller than the scoop that comes with it and you can see the handle over the top. The scoop part is also slightly wider, but I don't see that being an issue. (See pic)

This thing is amazing! Having to take little our three or four times a day was making me question how my two cats can still be so cute. With this thing twice a month. It retains the smell to where it doesn't even seem like o have cats in the house anymore. The feature of having a bag cutter inside so it's easy to keep the cartridge going is wonderful! I attached a photo to show max capacity. And remember

I am stupid excited over this thing! lol. As the name implies, it's like a Diaper Genie, but for soiled cat litter! No more having to constantly walk to the community dumpster every time I scoop the litter box, because the choice was either that, or tie it up in a smaller trash bag and throw it in the kitchen trash can and have to smell it until the can was full enough to take out. It's just so much more convenient.I haven't personally had any problems with odor control using this, but if you do, a little sprinkle of baking soda in the bottom of the bag should take care of that.Initially I thought I wouldn't use the scoop that came with it because I expected it to be flimsy and honestly I really liked the scoop I already had, but the one that comes with it is actually really sturdy, easy to use, and is made to fit the opening of the can so no spills. I'm thinking now that I've used it, I will probably continue to use it after all.So all in all a great product and well worth the money. I highly recommend it. This thing has made cleaning out the litter box so much less aggravating for me. It also looks nice. Not like having a dirty trash can full of cat sh** sitting around.

I love the convenience of the Litter Genie. It makes digging through the treasure box a quick and painless chore. You can minimize bag waste by clamping the bag with a couple of 4 inch zip ties. It's really the best way to empty the pail since the odors stay locked in and you're less likely to contaminate the outside of the bag. Make sure you cinch them on tight. They're rated for 19 lbs and I've never had one break open on me. I store the zip ties on the bottom of the genie pail so they're always where I can find them.I've also read some complaints about smell. Just spray some Lysol around the rim and let the Lysol dry on the plastic. It should keep bacteria from breeding under the closed lid.
