My dog actually likes this which is surprising since it smells like rotting fish to me...but whatever is healthiest for the dog, I'm happy with.

I love the smell of this kelp. It smells like the fresh outdoors. My dogs love it, I can only hope it is helping their health. Now after going through two jars of this kelp I am very pleased with the results. The three little girls feel great and a side benefit is that when they potty on the grass it does not stain or burn the grass. Their stools are perfect.

I love the fact that this kelp is organic. My dachshund had severe skin issues. Fish oil and kelp were the only products that stopped the itching and hair loss. My dachshund gets some every single day.

Compared to other dog kelp products, this seems like a much better value. My dog likes the flavor and after two months his coat is still just as lustrous as with the pricier options.

Have older dog with thyroid issues and younger to keep his stable. Sprinkle over food mixed with quality canned food so hide smell and taste. Have been using for about 30 days and will have my dog tested in another 30 to see if it helps his thyroid issues. Can see improvement in his movement already

Good amount for what I paid for - if your dog has hypothyroidism, this is incredibly helpful. I don't have a dog with diagnosed hypothyroidism, however, I knew it wouldn't hurt considering he has issues absorbing nutrients to begin with. Kelp in general tends to have a ton of vitamins in it (besides iodine), so it can be easily used as a supplemental vitamin.Word of caution - watch for signs of overdosing, which include watery eyes and nose, lethargy and diarrhea. Please keep to 0.1kg/1lb.

The product is truly great for the dogs, not thrilled with your provider. The California supplier is better to deal with

So many health benefits. My dog is on a hyperthyroid med. This is a natural alternative. If dogs eat grass this is supposed to remedy that too. I sprinkle this along with Olewo beets (also has many Health benefits) onto raw beef tripe, for my dog who was having kidney disease, we STABILIZED her, thank goodness. I think the diet and herbal supps along with distilled water had everything to do with stabilizing her.

WOW! I honestly did not look at the quantity of this. A very generous supple. Opened, added it last night for my boys dinner. There was a handy plastic measurement tool to use which I felt was nice to have. The ingredients smell very fresh when I opened the container! I believe this will help my doggies overall needed supplements for now! Will follow up with their results in 3 months! They did gobble their food up!

My lab had itchy skin so I was looking for anything natural to help him. My vet recommended giving him benadryl 3 times a day from March through the fall when he has allergies! No way! I don't know for sure what has helped him with his itchiness but I believe this has. I stopped the benadryl since I thought that is ridiculous. This, along with fish oil, local honey, and organic apple cider vinegar (with "the mother") rub downs on his itchy areas with a rag have helped a lot.Update: 2016- my lab no longer has allergies. Went all of last year without any problem- Spring through Fall and no itching. And to think his allergies were just going to get worse every year and be treated by the vet with Benadryl and steroids when there are natural cures out there. Sad.

I like all the nutrients kelp has. Kelp possess some of the best anti-cancer and anti-oxidant properties and my finicky dog will actually eat it! Believe me I've tried many other dog vitamins and my dog Jake turned his nose up at 98% of them. He must have a super duper sniffer because if he smells anything that is not good for him, he'll actually walk away. Anyway, I only use 1 teaspoon per meal so this huge jar will probably last over a year between my two dogs.

My dogs (75&60 pounds) are doing well on it. My dogs are big and active. One always had a problem with soft digestion. Now I found the best combination that works for us. I'm giving this Kelp in the food in the mornings (1 tea spoon) and 3/4 tsp of organic Flax Seed Meal (Costco). In the evening it's the Gold Seameal (1 tsp) and 3/4 Flax Seed Meal. No more diarrhea - perfectly formed. Amazing change after 6+ years. But be careful not to give too much of the Flax Seed Meal or constipation might be the result. I had to reduce the FSM to make it easier for them. The seize, weight and activity of the dog matters too.

This is an amazing product!!!!! Helped my dog red and inflammed skin!!! It is so wonderful I wondered if I should be taking it! I was so impressed I went back and ordered the blue stuff. A natural antibiotic and have been using it on my dogs ear where she had surgery and it's helping also on her skin where she itches. It works like they say. She leaves it alone for over 12hrs sometimes for good! I also put it on my nose where I had gotten cellulitis and it was the only thing that made the pain go away!!!! Can't say enough just order this if you think it might help your dog at all!!!!!

I buy this for years. My dogs are doing great with it in every health way. Totally can recommend this product. But it is suddenly not Prime anymore. Now that I have to pay shipment I rather buy the bucket than the more convenient 3 pound one. Also the price has nearly tripled since I started about 5 years ago. Wonder why or if this is 'personalized pricing' for longtime buyers on specific reoccurring purchases?

This product does an AMAZING job removing gunk and tartar from our dog's teeth and neutralizing their previous "dog breath". Plus, it's nutritional composition is outstanding. None of this would matter if the dogs didn't like to eat it, but they actually seem to love it. I sprinkle it on their dry dog food, and they consistently lick their bowls almost completely clean. The dogs are happy, I"m happy, and their teeth are white!

My dog Wicket is 16. She had extreme thirst and started wetting in the house huge puddles. As a dog groomer, I deal with dog issues all day long. I figured she probably had cushions disease. I wanted to try a natural product before going to a vet , I didn't want to put her through tests if I could help it. I ordered this product. I was amazed! After a couple of days I saw a difference. We are going on about 4 weeks. She is doing wonderful. The water bowl has water in it when I get home from work. No puddles on the floor. The jar will probably last me a year. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PRODUCT.

We were looking for organic kelp for our little 8lb schnauzer mix. He was rescued at around 8 weeks and has suffered from allergy, skin, and digestive issues. More recently we stopped feeding him bagged commercial dog food because he was developing allergies to (at that time) an unknown ingredient. I thought it would be best to control the variables in his diet to figure out what was tolerated well, and what wasn't. So basically what he consumes isn't a huge variety, mostly sweet potato based along with a protein source like salmon or mackerel. There was some concern that he wasn't receiving all of the nutrients and minerals in order to keep his skin from flaking (seborrhea). We were paying the same amount for a small, medication-sized container of a kelp-based supplement from the vet. This 3lb container has lasted us almost 7 months and is still 2/3 full. The pieces are small and somewhat "crunchy" (not dry and flakey like I expected); this isn't an issue by any means. The kelp seems to be small enough in order to be absorbed. The smell seems very natural (somewhat like how the sea or ocean smells) - this led me to feel that the product was minimally processed and retained its nutrient value. There is a convenient measuring scoop on the inside that corresponds with the suggested servings, by animal weight, on the label. If you do have a concern that the kelp is too tough for your animal to chew (although I really don't see this as a legitimate concern), the pieces rehydrate well by letting them soak up a little coconut or olive oil. He seems to really enjoy the flavor and loves it on his food. It has helped to improve the condition of his skin as well. I will mention that we even sprinkle some occasionally (about once a month) in our potted plants after watering to help replenish minerals into the soil - they seem to do well on it also.

First off, this "freeze dried crushed kelp" product costs significantly less than other brands. One big reason for this, I believe is that this brand of crushed kelp isnt ground up into a fine powder the way the more expensive brands are. This brand is crushed for sure but the pieces are comparatively large and you feel like your trying to chew tiny rocks when you eat it or sprinkle it on food. To solve this issue, I at first used a morter and pestle to grind the kelp more. That kind of got old fast so then I tried reconstituting the kelp with a bit of water. That ended up working super well so that's what I do now. I scoop my dose into a small cup and my dogs dose into another small cup and then add just enough water to cover the kelp granules. After a few hours, the kelp is soft and nice to consume. So my dog and I take the kelp twice a day. When we take one dose, I set things up for the next dose. Its quick, easy and the kelp in our diet is already making a big difference-at least for my dog! As for me, I'll report back after I've used it awhile longer. In my dogs case, he definitely has more energy and is much more animated and playful. I'm skeptical when people make miracle claims about nutrient supplements but it's very noticeable in my dog already so its difficult to deny. Also, my dog has ALWAYS suffered from a dry, cracked nose. His poor nose has always been a source of misery for him, so much so that I use to use "nose butter" on it twice a day to help make him feel more comfortable. Within a couple of days(literally) after starting him on this kelp, his nose became cold and wet like a good dog nose should be. I was excited and completely impressed and happy for my pup. Oh and I didn't buy this kelp for any of the reasons that I've stated as beneficial so far. I bought it after learning that kelp is supposed to help a dog form an enzyme in its saliva that kills the bacteria that causes plaque. I just paid $500 to have my dogs teeth cleaned so had been searching for a way to prevent plaque from building up again. I started myself on this kelp for pretty much the same reason, hoping to increase my dental health. The rest of the good stuff that's happening is a major bonus.By the way, if you want the more powderised kelp, you're welcome to go spend $65 for 0.9lbs. I bought this kelp for $57 for 6lbs. I really dont mind the extra effort of rehydrating this kelp at those kind of savings.

My greyhound was diagnosed with having low thyroid two years ago. We would get his blood checked and kept increasing the dosage that I finally got fed up with him being on "hormones" and after reading other reviews on this product I decided to try it out. The entire time with the oversight of my vet who knew I was frustrated at the constant change in dosage of my dog's thyroid medication. The vet supported me taking the dog off the medication under the condition we would monitor his blood closely. He checked my dog's blood 30 days before we started my dog on the Kelp (to make sure we had a baseline) and asked I bring him in after six months after that. Well , we just went last weekend to get his blood work and the vet candidly warned me not to expect the Kelp to have helped. The vet even said "It's an issue where your dog's glands are just not working properly, so even though we are giving him this kelp, it's unlikely to make the gland perform better, but I'm curious to see the results, just not optimistic"... Well.. I'm happy to report my dog's blood results are back and to our astonishment, his thyroid levels are NORMAL!! (They're on the lower range of normal but that is common for greyhounds so it's "his normal" and the Vet said "keep him on the kelp!".). We are really happy with this product. The best part is I had noticed a difference within 3 weeks of taking it but the vet thought it was "all in my head". I've had my dog 4 years and the entire time my dog's butt was bald and he was a lethargic dog who didn't play. I was told the hair would not grow back and that it was caused by sitting so long in a cage during his racing days and that they're known as "couch potatoes". Within a few weeks of taking the product my dog's hair on his butt not only grew back but his entire coat was getting softer. My dog now has the softest I've ever felt on a dog. My friends who visit and pet him notice it right away and even joke that he's like a "mink blanket" and the change in his mood/behavior was also noticeable after 3 weeks. He has been more active, playful and now we know it was the kelp. I am very happy with this product and I recommend it to anyone looking for alternative treatment to medication for hormone balance. I advise to talk to your veterinarian about it too because there may be other health conditions related and the veterinarian will help monitor the dog. The more informed your vet is the better.

This stuff has done wonders for my black lab. She was showing all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. She was borderline sickly lethargic. She didn't have energy to do much at all. She didn't even want to play. Half-way through this canister, she started to change. She's had it twice a day every day at the recommended dosage for her (over)weight. Now, nearly finished with the canister, my dog RUNS! She JUMPS! She has started playing with toys again!! She's even lost weight, which she desperately needed to loose. I swear, I think this stuff saved her life.I don't usually leave reviews. But this kelp... it's worth every penny. Thank God I found it.I'm about to order it again.
